Set behind a screen of msasa on one of the quieter loops inside Borrowdale Brooke, Ridgeway House was designed around its north aspect. The main living volume opens along its full length onto a covered terrace and lawn, so the pool and garden read as part of the room rather than something beyond it.

Five bedrooms are arranged as a family wing of four, with a self-contained guest suite reached from its own courtyard. The kitchen is the working heart of the plan — a scullery, a walk-in pantry and a breakfast room that catches the morning sun.

Water and power are fully independent: a borehole feeding 10 000 litres of storage, and a solar array with an 8 kVA inverter sized to carry the house through an extended outage. Staff accommodation sits discreetly at the rear with separate access.
